What Makes you, YOU? A Reflection on Identity Across Continents

Question: Who are you? Who who? (Yes, couldn’t resist The Who for a second, please stay with me : )

Contemplate if you will: What makes you you?

Is it the place you live? The way you speak? The people you love? Is it what you do each day, or perhaps what you dream about when no one’s looking?

Is it the way your heart breaks open when you care deeply? The questions you carry quietly throughout the years? The faith you hold when things don’t go as planned? The way you keep showing up, for yourself and for others, even when it’s hard?

After spending time with my partner in Sweden and Croatia, I’ve been pondering: what makes me me?(The trip was amazing, btw!) And, as always, coming back to the US, I can feel a contrast: the pace, the sounds, even the air feels different. And yet, I feel perfectly at home in all three places:

  • A little bit of Sweden: balanced, efficient yet ‘Lagom’ in the way I live.

  • A little bit of Croatia: warm, open, soulful. Polako mentality.

  • A little bit of US: bold, expressive, and full of possibility. Asking ‘what’s next?’

And of course, a whole lot of me: the awareness, the questions, the joy in finding meaning where others may rush past it. So…who are you?

What places, people or pieces of your past are still living inside of you? What are you noticing about who you are now? This kind of reflection is awareness, my friend. It’s a powerful contemplation exercise. The noticing. The integrating. The becoming. I’d love to hear what’s been shaping you lately and how you got there!

If your soul is craving a shift, a pause or a meaningful escape, check out my upcoming retreats in Blue Ridge, Sweden and Croatia. Come explore with me! It’s such a rich experience to travel—both inward and outward :)

PS: My next adventure will lead me to Phoenix, AZ to attend a 10 day immersive healing retreat. I’ll be off the grid for the most part. Are you interested in reading about my personal healing/ growth experience? Let me know, I’m happy to share.

As always, I’m in your corner! To Powerful, Positive Change…Cheers!
